Cam at CSI 2025

In April, I had the opportunity to attend my first Canadian Society for Immunology conference in Gatineau, QC. This annual conference brings together immunologists from across the country to discuss their research and network. It was a great exposure to the work being done in other fields within immunology that I don’t think about as much in my research. There were particularly interesting talks from some comparative immunologists studying germinal centres in fish and sharks. I was also able to present a poster and discuss my research with several students and faculty. This was a great experience to improve my communication and networking skills.

Cam talkin’ science (the fact that he is out of focus is the photographer’s fault)

This was also my first time visiting Gatineau. The conference was held at the Hilton on Lac-Leamy, which had a nice walking trail around the lake that provided a change of pace from the busyness of the conference. I was also able to visit my younger brother in Ottawa, as I hadn’t seen him in a while before this trip. Overall, the conference was a positive experience and I learned a lot!
